24-Hour and Late Night Denver
From FunDenver -- the Denver, Colorado resource that anyone can edit!
While Denver can't yet be described as a "city that never sleeps", there is a definite subset of the population which is awake and aware while the sun is busy providing light and warmth to faraway lands. These late-night partiers, graveyard shift workers, students, and stubborn anti-circadians occasionally need places to eat, consume coffee, and generally do some hanging out. If we pool our knowledge of late-night, mile-high living by listing the places that keep the doors open while the stars are out, we can make the most of this finite segment of the Denver economy.
Some places are open around the clock every day of the week, and others stay open into the wee hours but lock the doors before the pesky sun rises from its hiding place on the other side of Aurora. Still others stay open late on the weekends, but close early during the less busy weeknights. To accommodate all these businesses which offer nighttime services, I have created several top-level categories listed in order of late-night goodness.
Obviously, businesses change their hours quite often, so don't stake your life on this information or plan any super-important 3:00am meetings at these places without checking it out, first.

Always Open
While all categories of late-night establishments are appreciated, the ones that provide full coverage of the clock and calendar deserve a medal.
- Coffee houses
- Leela European Cafe - 820 15th St. This downtown coffee shop serves food and lattes around the clock. Free internet!
- 24-Hour Starbucks - 960 S Colorado Blvd. No free internet, boo!
- Diners - The Colfax Four
- Pete's Kitchen - 1962 E Colfax Ave. Denver's flagship greasy spoon has been operating 24/7 for the past few years. Thank you, Pete!
- Denver Diner - 740 W Colfax Ave. Another excellent choice for dining whenever you may be hungry. For the most calories for the buck, I recommend the "Square Meal".
- Tom's Diner - 601 E Colfax Ave. I don't think the food here is as good as Pete's or Denver Diner, but, well... it's open 24/7!
- Mama's Cafe - 2001 E Colfax Ave. I've never been in this place (it's hard to justify it when Pete's is right across the street), but it appears to be open 24/7.
- Chain diners
- Village Inn - Not all Village Inn diners are open 24/7. In particular, the one in Cherry Creek is not. However, the shop I frequent at Colorado Blvd and I-25 is always open. (There are actually two Village Inns at this location -- the one on the west side of the road is always open. I'm not sure about the one across the street.)
- Waffle House - Besides being always open, Waffle House is one of the few places around Denver where Southern ex-pats can order grits. Mmm, grits.
- Denny's - The word is that many (all?) Denny's restaurants are always open.
- Perkins - Some (all?) Perkins restaurants are open 24/7. The shop at Colorado Blvd and Buchtel (just south of I-25) is definitely open 24 hours.
- Other business establishments
- King Soopers - Many King Soopers grocery stores are open around the clock, including the one in Capitol Hill at 9th and Downing.
- Wal-Mart Supercenters - I was caught off-guard once a couple of years ago when the Stapleton store closed on me, but I think most are open 24/7. The new Lakewood store at Colfax and Wadsworth is definitely 24/7, and is a fast drive on the 6th from central Denver. Watch out for those scary bouncing yellow smileys.
Usually open late
These businesses are usually open past midnight.
- Coffee houses
- Paris On The Platte - 1553 Plate St. Open until 3:00am on Friday and Saturday, 1:00am all other nights. Free internet!

- Two Fisted Mario's - 1626 Market St. Open until 3:00am Thursday through Saturday, 2:00am on other nights.
- Bars - Most bars are open until the official 2:00am closing time. A few have late-night food menus.
- Restaurants
- Ya Hala - 2100 S Colorado Blvd. It's been a while since I've been to this restaurant located at Colorado Blvd and Evans, but I believe they are open quite late (4:00am?) during most of the week.
- Jerusalem Restaurant - 1890 E Evans Ave. It's been years since I've been here, but I believe they are open very late on most nights, and 24-hour on the weekends.
- Silver Mine Subs - 1228 E Colfax Ave. The Silver Mine Subs shop on East Colfax stays open until 3:00am most nights.
- Greek Town Cafe - 2910 E Colfax Ave. Open Mon-Sat until 2:00am; Sun until 12:00am
Open late on weekends
The demand for late-night services is much higher on the weekend, when Denver is invaded by gazillions of partying suburbanites who eventually need access to vital sustenance (coffee and pizza).
- Coffee houses
-
Monkey Bean Coffee and Bistro - 2470 Broadway. The Monkey stays open until midnight during the week, and 3:00am on Friday and Saturday nights. Free internet!(closed) - Aviano Coffee - 955 Lincoln St. Aviano is open until 2:00am on Friday and Saturday nights, and 10:00pm on other nights.

- Sonoda's Sushi - 1620 Market St. Happy Hour each Friday - Saturday 10:00pm - 12:00am
Open well into the evening
These places deserve a sort of "honorable mention", for staying open after most of their competition has called it a day.
