Aviano Coffee is a new coffee house in the Beauvallon building on Lincoln Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. The grand opening was on February 24th, although they had already been open for a while. Aviano has some incredible coffee and pastries, comfy chairs, great hours, free internet, and lots of plug-ins for your laptop. As of March 5, they still did not have menus or labels for the pastries, which often leads to confusion.

Hours reduced

I just swung by Aviano, and it looks like they are no longer open 24 hours on the weekends.  :( I've updated the hours listed above with the new hours painted on the door. --Simmons 02:41, 9 April 2006 (MDT)

A Note From Aviano Coffee

Hello Readers:

The post I’m commenting on was written some time ago, but requires that I comment on the issue of menu board.

When we designed our shop, we had in mind a place that would make our customers feel welcome. We did not want a shop that left our customers with a feeling like they needed to get-in/get-out (e.g. hard wooden chairs and cold hard environment). We want our customers to stay for a while. Coupled with that idea would be a place that would have no corporate feel whatsoever, but rather a more European feel, more like a coffee house of 200 years ago.

It was our intent not to put up a menu board for this reason. We felt that most people who frequent coffee houses already know what they want, or they will take the word of the barista. It gives us a chance to interact with our customers on a more personal level, and it does not clutter up the walls with a bunch of enduring and everlasting words necessitating rigid drink formulas. We consider our baristas culinary artists, and if you know anyone who has been here, more than likely they will agree.

When people walk in and are skeptical because of the lack of a menu board, we engage their desire to have several of their senses satisfied, and they usually walk out true believers. Almost always we will see them again.
