What is FunDenver?
Welcome to FunDenver, unicasting live from FunDenver headquarters in downtown Denver, Colorado! This web site is an attempt to catalog restaurants, sights, attractions, and other fun things around Denver. FunDenver is organized as a wiki, which means that anybody can get an account, log in, and add new pages.
What is a wiki?
A wiki is a web site which allows users to add new pages and edit content. The term originates from the Hawaiian term wiki which means "quick". The best example of a wiki is the popular Wikipedia web site.
What, you're telling me that I can edit pages on this site?
That's the general idea. When using this model, you can expect a certain amount of vandalism -- i.e., mischievous people who edit the pages without the best of intentions. However, the wiki system stores all previous revisions of each page, and makes it easy for the good guys to effortlessly revert pages that have been vandalized.
A successful wiki like Wikipedia has thousands of dedicated users who contribute content, and even allows anonymous users to edit pages and add content. These thousands of dedicated users also help keep an eye out for vandalism. FunDenver is a sort of experiment to see how effective a wiki site can be to organize information about a city, and the extent to which edits are allowed may be tweaked here and there to react to levels of vandalism. At this time, editing has the following restrictions:
- Anonymous users are not allowed to edit pages. You must create an account and log in before being allowed to edit pages.
- Many pages may be "locked", meaning that only administrators may edit these pages.
So, I can post anything I want?
Well, there are a few common-sense editing rules that should be followed. Postings that violate these rules will be swiftly removed by FunDenver's squad of elite page-watching, policy-enforcing monkeys.
How are intellectual property issues managed?
